How Doorifi helped a growing family find their future home
From Growing Pains to a Dream Home — How the Boldins Upsized with Doorifi
When Laura and Jim Boldin decided to have a third child, they knew it was time to upsize. With two young girls — Harley, age 3, and Evangeline, 19 months — plus three dogs, their Neptune, NJ 07753 home was already bursting at the seams.
“I needed more space. We needed somewhere with a yard because I was slowly losing my mind,” Laura recalls.
The Boldins, married for four years, had lived in several neighborhoods around Monmouth County — from Red Bank to Freehold to Hazlet. They weren’t sure exactly where to go next, but they knew they wanted an affordable, safe community to raise their kids. Fortunately, they had a secret weapon for their search: Doorifi.
From Window-Shopper to Home Buyer
Laura first learned about Doorifi two years earlier when she saw a for-sale sign promising an “all-day open house.” Coming from a family of realtors and appraisers, she’d always loved browsing homes. The idea of being able to tour properties without a realtor was instantly appealing.
As a stay-at-home mom, Laura often brought her daughters along to showings. With Doorifi’s unoccupied homes, she could relax — unlike traditional listings, where she felt stressed about keeping the kids from touching anything. “Visiting Doorifi homes was so much easier and so much more relaxed,” she says.
Doorifi’s all-day open houses also meant Jim, who worked during the day, could join her in the evenings or whenever their schedule allowed.
Eventually, the Boldins’ browsing led them to Wall Township — an area that hadn’t even been on their radar. One visit to a spacious, affordable home there made them realize they’d found the right neighborhood.
From Contingency to Certainty
Once they found their dream home, they turned to Doorifi to sell their current one. Prepping their Neptune house for the open market would have been a challenge — between Jim’s job, Laura’s pregnancy, and the demands of caring for two toddlers, they had little time for cleaning, repairs, and painting. Selling to Doorifi meant skipping all that work, since Doorifi would handle it.
Even more importantly, as contingent buyers, they needed the funds from their sale to secure the downpayment on their next home. Doorifi gave them a guaranteed sale with no risk of financing falling through, allowing them to make a strong offer on their future home.
Flexibility When It Mattered Most
After accepting Doorifi’s offer, the Boldins were paired with their home advisor, Patrick. As first-time sellers, they appreciated his guidance. “He was very reassuring for someone who literally had no idea what was going on,” Laura says.
When delays with their new home required moving their closing date — twice — Patrick handled it without stress. “Each and every time I called Patrick, it was ‘no big deal, I got it, no problem,’” Jim recalls.
Because Doorifi could accommodate those changes, the Boldins closed on their new, larger home on their 4th wedding anniversary. “I teased Jim, saying, ‘you got me a house for our anniversary!’” Laura laughs.
Today, they’re happily settling into their Wall Township home, enjoying the extra space — and getting ready to welcome baby number three.
